ROOTS COMMUNITY
SUPPORT GROUP
A monthly meeting held at 2 different locations in Calgary and 1 location in Edmonton that cover a wide variety of topics pertaining to home education.
These meetings are designed to encourage parents while edifying God in their homeschooling journey. Child care is provided for all ages, toddlers to
grade 12, so parents can enjoy the devotional, fellowship and
a time of prayer uninterrupted.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Each special event in Roots is designed to bring families together while offering ample opportunities to establish relationships and have fun! Events that have been run in the past include; used curriculum sale, Christmas market, Science fair,
high school mini conference, year end party, Christian worldview
conference & fine arts week.
FIELD TRIPS

Roots parent volunteers organize a variety of fieldtrips throughout the school year. Story Book Theatre productions, Telus Spark, wilderness survival workshops, drama workshops, National Geographic Live, Jubilee Auditorium tour are just a few past trips. There is an average of 2 fieldtrips each month from September to May.
NEWSLETTERS

This is distributed electronically once a month from October to May. Parent contributions are welcome. The Roots newsletter could include articles, a monthly calendar, information on coming events & devotionals.
GOOGLE TALK
Through this private group, Google Talk enables Roots parents and staff to share ideas and ask questions pertaining to home education. Posts share or look for curriculum, ask for suggestions in specific areas, request prayer, share
interesting articles someone has read, and post questions regarding
related matters such as discipline, fieldtrips and scheduling.
LIBRARY
Roots has a digital library for Calgary area families to access books, audio & visuals. Items can be picked up at the monthly support group meetings or arranged with our librarian. Books in our library pass the criteria of being Christian
content, items not normally found in the public libraries and are living books.
Access to the Roots library is limited to Roots families.
